He is Alexander MacLean, a fearsome Highland warrior fighting for his true Scottish King. She is Elizabeth Curtis, a beautiful Englishwoman who wears the scarlet uniform of an English soldier and wields a sword like a seasoned fighter on the battlefield.
Enemies meet and passions collide...in The Rebel
Note: The Rebel is a short story prequel to the Highlander series, approximately 30 pages in length.
The Rebel was first published in print in 2010 in The Mammoth Book of Scottish Romance - an anthology of short story romances. It is also available as a single short story in ebook format.
The action takes place during the Battle of Sherrifmuir which occurred during the Jacobite Rebellions of 1715. It is this battle that sets the characters in motion on a path of vengeance and justice for the upcoming stories: Captured by the Highlander, Claimed by the Highlander, and Seduced by the Highlander.
While the battle is a true historical event, the characters in this story are fictional, as are all the characters in my Highlander series (except for King George of course). Angus MacDonald (the hero in Claimed by the Highlander) makes a cameo appearance in this story.
